Avoid Poverty of Ambition

A little over a week ago the United States elected a new President, a leader for both Americans and the world. Just like when the Monitor met the Merrimack, everything changed right then and there. Ripples of that change may come slow but they will come, maybe they will even be waves. As President Lincoln once said "I walk slowly, but I never walk backwards." Let us heed Lincoln's advice. America's journey to fulfill its promises has always been slow, but the nation has never moved backwards. Americans, in the coming years, will be forced to walk slowly but we will never walk backwards.

Has Barack even talked about what time or event in his life made him decided that being a community organizer was the greatest path he could take? It's interesting how he talks about the relative crossroads he found himself after he completed his undergraduate degree, and his friends were applying for grad school, or how he could have pursued a career in television. I'm a college student now and I believe in the importance of services such as community organizing, and I would like to know if there is a way to get more young, intelligent Americans involved in these types of programs.
